Dr. Josh Jeffery

Josh is the COO and co-owner of Vertex PT Specialists, where he specializes in working with overhead athletes, including throwers, and functional fitness athletes. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Josh completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton in 2012, earning a B.S. in Business Administration. He moved to Columbia, SC in 2013 to begin his graduate studies at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a M.S. in Exercise Science in 2015 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2019. Josh holds several certifications, including Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, OPEX coach, and CrossFit Level 2 trainer.
Before joining the team at Vertex, Josh worked in the strength and conditioning field, gaining experience working with a variety of athletes, including those at USC, NFL players, Olympic athletes, elite-level CrossFitters, weightlifters, and powerlifters. As a former college baseball player, Josh’s niche lies in working with overhead athletes as they strive to return to their sport. He has also coached CrossFitters to the CrossFit Games, regionals, and sanctional events.
When he’s not working, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs, traveling the country to teach continuing education courses, and training and competing in CrossFit and weightlifting.

Dr. Brandon Vaughn

Chief Executive Officer
Brandon is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and the founder of Vertex PT Specialists. He graduated with high honors from The Citadel in 2007 with a degree in Exercise Science and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina in 2010.
He holds advanced certifications in Spinal Manipulation and Dry Needling (American Academy of Manipulative Therapy), Strength & Conditioning (NSCA CSCS), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), concussion management (American Institute of Balance), Pose Method running technique, Full Body Active Release Technique®, and Functional Range Conditioning (FRC)®.
Brandon specializes in post-operative rehab and sports performance. His approach blends advanced manual therapy and dry needling with strength-based programming to get people not just back—but stronger. He’s worked with a wide range of clients, including NFL and NBA players, Olympians, and CrossFit Games athletes.
He lives in his hometown of West Columbia with his high school sweetheart, Rachael, and their two children, Scarlett and Beau. Outside of the clinic, Brandon enjoys training for Ironman triathlons and local CrossFit competitions.
