Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a highly effective treatment technique for deactivating trigger points, which are painful knotted areas in your muscles. This technique uses thin, solid, filiform needles to reach deep parts of the muscle, resulting in immediate and long-lasting pain relief. At Vertex PT Specialists, we combine Dry Needling with traditional physical therapy to provide our patients with the best possible care.

When we insert the needles, we elicit a “twitch response” or involuntary contraction of the muscle, followed by relaxation. Patients usually do not feel the insertion of the needle, but describe the twitch response as a brief “cramping” sensation. It’s important to note that although the needles used for Dry Needling are the same needles used in acupuncture, the technique is not acupuncture as described by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or practiced by licensed acupuncturists.
